Dan Campbell is accused by Chris Christie of lacking “class.”

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie is feeling a bit salty over how the Detroit Lions handled Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

In an appearance on “Mad Dog Unleashed” Thursday, Christie, an avowed Cowboys fan, said Lions coach Dan Campbell was classless for running up the score on Dallas during Sunday’s 47-9 win. Host Christopher Russo asked if Christie had a problem with the Lions using a host of trick plays in the blowout, and Christie suggested that is just how Campbell is.

“That’s Dan Campbell. He’s got no class. Never has. It’s fine. It’s fine. Look, Dan Campbell, that’s the way he is, and what goes around comes around,” Christie said. “I think that it’s misdirected. Dan Campbell’s angry because the referees got a call wrong in the game a year ago. Then run that play on Roger Goodell. The Cowboys had nothing to do with the play being called incorrectly. It wasn’t a challenge the Cowboys made. It was a call the referees made. The Lions got hurt by it, the Cowboys benefited from it.”

Christie’s interpretation is that the Lions ran a bunch of plays with offensive linemen as eligible receivers as a nod to their controversial loss in Dallas in 2023. It is worth noting the Lions were doing it in the first half as well, long before the game turned into a blowout.

Most people are not going to align with Christie on this one. The Cowboys are a popular target for jokes, after all, and a lot of people are enjoying some of the meltdowns around them after such an ugly defeat.
