July 8, 2025– Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made a startling admission about the toll modern football is taking on players, blaming the recent  winter World Cup for what he fears could be a looming disaster for his team. In a brutally honest press conference, Guardiola didn’t hold back: “Maybe in  November, December or January it will be a  DISASTER   We are exhausted and the  World Cup has destroyed us he said.“It’s the first time in our lives we’ve experienced something like this. We’ll see what happens when we come back – but right now, the signs are worrying.” The City boss pointed to the  congested fixture calendar  ongoing  international commitments , and lack of  recovery time  as major contributors to player fatigue. Many of his key stars played non-stop from last season into the World Cup and straight into another demanding campaign. Guardiola’s comments reflect the growing concern across Europe’s elite clubs that  player welfare  is being overlooked in the race for more games, more trophies, and more revenue. “You cannot run like a machine forever. We are humans, not robots,” Guardiola added. “If we continue like this, injuries and burnout will be impossible to avoid.” City fans will be hoping that their side, known for its relentless intensity and tactical perfection, can survive the storm — but Guardiola’s warning is clear:   thebpoint may already be near.
