Detroit Lions
Another defensive lineman is out for the Detroit Lions because of illness.
Already down half a dozen defensive linemen due to injury this season, the Detroit Lions head into this weekend down another lineman due to illness.
Friday, the team officially ruled Joshua Paschal out of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Paschal, who has turned into a starting defensive end amid the team’s rash of injuries, was sidelined all week and now will force Detroit’s depth to step up even more. Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he doesn’t believe Paschal will be sidelined long-term but admitted
“he’s got a little bit of something,” that he’s dealing with.
With him out, Campbell said the team will lean on James Houston, Isaiah Thomas and Al-Quadin Muhammad this weekend.
“He’s done enough during the week to want to get him out there and get him some reps,”
Campbell said of Thomas, who the Lions signed off Cincinnati’s practice squad last week. Muhammad was signed to the team’s practice squad earlier this month. Both he and Thomas are expected to make their Lions debuts on Sunday. Houston, who hasn’t been active since Week 2, may also have a bigger role.
The team also has Isaac Ukwu and Pat O’Connor. Offensive lineman Christian Mahogany is the only other Lion listed as out for Sunday’s game. He remains on the non-football illness list. The Titans will be without standout corner L’Jarius Sneed, offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan and linebacker Cedric Gray, and five others – linebacker Jerome Baker, running back Tyjae Spears, quarterback Will Levis, defensive back Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
and defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat – are all questionable. Kickoff Sunday at Ford Field is set for 1 p.m. (ET).
