The NBA trade deadline is almost approaching, but Boston Celtics supporters shouldn’t anticipate any kind of big splash. With a 38-12 record, the Celtics are the NBA’s top team and lead the second-place Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference by five games.

Despite the abundance of Celtics-related rumors, Boston is probably going to keep quiet around the deadline. In fact, Boston’s radio play-by-play commentator, Sean Grande, recently stated that if the team does anything, it might just stick to playing defense as the other teams try to improve.

The Boston Celtics Won’t Become Overly Interested at the Deadline

In the most recent edition of the podcast “View From the Rafters,” Grande discussed Boston’s circumstances surrounding the trade deadline with guests Abby Chin and Mark D’Amico.

The Boston Celtics are still comfortably ahead in the fight for the conference’s top seed, despite some bruising losses recently to the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers. They have the best starting five in the NBA, so whatever decisions they make on Thursday will probably just be small ones.

Grande brought out the fact that two of the more well-known names, Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, have already been replaced.

and neither was acquired by a team that would probably compete for the conference championship. According to Grande, the Celtics will probably be on the watch for potential opponents like the Milwaukee Bucks and the Cavaliers in order to make sure they don’t get much better.

Even though Siakam and Anunoby were moved earlier in the week, a top team like the Bucks will still be keeping an eye on them.

The Bucks sent Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers before the season, only for Boston to move him a few days later to acquire his services.

The reason Siakam and Anunoby aren’t (serious competitors) is that they share the same sentiment as Bucks supporters, who said, “Oh man, I hated to give up Jrue Holiday, but we got Damian Lillard.” We took the major step.
