Detroit’s very own Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, has a special request for former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford as the Los Angeles Rams gear up to face the Detroit Lions in the playoffs on Sunday night.
Eminem took to Sunday Night Football on NBC’s X feed to deliver a lighthearted video message, donning a custom Barry Sanders No. 20 king hooded sweatshirt.

The Grammy-winning rapper opened with a reminder to Stafford, “Stafford. What’d I say?” referencing the quarterback’s pivotal Super Bowl win with the Rams in 2022.

The rapper continued, emphasizing the loyalty he showed Stafford during his triumph in Los Angeles. “You owe me this favor, bro. I was there for you when you won it. I was there for you. I was right there,” Eminem asserted, acknowledging the critical role he played in celebrating Stafford’s success. What is Going on With the Detroit Lions? -

Drawing on the camaraderie they shared during Stafford’s time in Detroit, Eminem playfully brought up the times he rapped for the quarterback. With a tinge of nostalgia, he urged Stafford to reciprocate the goodwill by allowing the Lions to secure a victory in their first home playoff game in 30 years.

In a concluding plea, Eminem humorously appealed to Stafford, saying, “Can you just let us have this one? Just this one.”

Stafford, who served as the Lions’ franchise quarterback after being drafted No. 1 overall in 2009, was traded to the Rams in 2021. While Stafford clinched a Super Bowl win with the Rams in 2022, the Lions have entered a rebuilding phase under a new regime. This matchup marks Stafford’s return to Detroit, where Eminem, along with Lions fans, hopes for a friendly nod to the city that played a significant part in his football journey.
