Newcastle will appoint ‘the best manager in the world’ if Eddie Howe leaves to join England

Newcastle are facing somewhat uncertain times at the moment as Eddie Howe continues to be linked with the England job.

The former Bournemouth man did recently come out and state that he wants to remain on Tyneside but only if all parties are happy and on board with his project.

So, with that said, the Magpies have had to carry out their due diligence and line up his potential replacement.

According to The Mirror, Newcastle will make an approach for former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino if Howe departs.

New sporting director Paul Mitchell was the man who appointed Pochettino, labelled as ‘the best manager in the world’ per talkSPORT, at Southampton in 2013, so evidently the pair have a great relationship in the game.

The report claims that Howe is undecided about his future and is considering taking up the vacant Three Lions position.

Newcastle chiefs want a definite decision to be made imminently as they prepare for the fast-approaching Premier League season next month.

In Howe’s recent interview, it seemed as though he was awaiting assurances from the club’s hierarchy before making an indefinite decision.

“My commitment to Newcastle is unwavering and it has been since I came to the football club,” the 46-year-old told Sky Sports.

“As long as I have certain things for me – as in I’m happy, I’m allowed to work in the way I need to work in order to get the best out of me and I feel supported – then that will never change.”

A telling few days await Newcastle whilst behind the scenes, they’re working on signing Serge Gnabry.

In other news, Newcastle United’s management are already disagreeing over £30m player Paul Mitchell wants to sign.
