Newcastle United starts vying for the recently promoted midfielder for the Super Eagles

According to Soccernet.ng, Wilfred Ndidi, a midfielder for Leicester City and the Super Eagles, has drawn interest from clubs as recently as Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

Despite missing nearly two months due to injury, the 27-year-old was a crucial part of Leicester City’s team when the Foxes regained their top-flight status last weekend.

Sevilla, Fenerbahçe, Tottenham Hotspur, and Galatasaray have been keeping an eye on the Super Eagles midfielder’s contract status as an impending departure approaches.

Aston Villa, West Ham, Newcastle, and Fichajes have all indicated interest in signing the player as a free agent in the upcoming weeks, according to a Spanish outlet.

Ndidi is mentioned as an appealing alternative for both Newcastle United and Aston Villa, who are both seeking to improve their facilities.

This season, injuries plagued the Magpies, and Sandro Tonali’s ban left Eddie Howe with less alternatives in midfield, which fueled his desire to have Ndidi as a backup midfielder.

Although Newcastle will not be participating in the UEFA Champions League the next season, Eddie Howe is committed to keeping his club competitive and securing a spot in European competitions for the second year in a row. With players like Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo also on the Magpies’ wish list, the team is open to considering any and all possibilities, including players who might sign as free agents.

The 53-time cap Nigerian player has his sights set on joining one of the top six Premier League clubs, according to a previous report from Soccernet.ng. Ndidi would not entertain any offer in England that falls outside of that range; instead, he will aim to leave the country where he has been working since 2017.

With four games remaining, Newcastle is presently ranked seventh in the English Premier League. Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, on the other hand, are in a better position to recruit Ndidi because they are comfortably in fourth place.
