NFL executives unfiltered on 2024 free agency: The best and worst from all 32 teams

NFL team-builders are constantly re-calculating their rosters, even at this time of the year, nearly three weeks removed from the draft.

A well-timed veteran free-agent addition at the right price can go a long way toward filling a hole that might not become apparent until October. But if teams don’t act now, that shelf will be empty later this summer.

The veteran player pool has already thinned with a second wave of signings over the last couple of weeks. Outside linebacker Bud Dupree, recently signed by the Chargers, would have been on this list. Same for offensive tackle Chris Hubbard, who just signed with the 49ers. Wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr., Tyler Boyd and Allen Robinson all found homes recently.

But there is still value at some key positions: depth in the secondary at both cornerback and safety, some quality interior offensive linemen and even a fast guy or two for offenses that need speed outside, if the price is right. And yes, everyone has a price, and as each day passes, it becomes more of a buyer’s market.

These are my top remaining free agents and possible fits for each, as teams try to fill their remaining holes after the draft. Ages as of Sept. 5, the date of the 2024 season opener, are in parentheses.
