As It Happened: West Ham United U21s 0-3 Fulham

If you’re looking for something else to watch this evening, why not check out Ómarsson – the Club’s original documentary following Dagný Brynjarsdóttir’s journey through pregnancy as a professional sportswoman and the barriers female athletes face when making the decision to become a mother.

In a recent report, journalist Rudy Galetti mentioned that West Ham United remain big admirers of Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe ahead of the summer transfer window. It has been claimed that the Hammers are still interested in acquiring the services of the English talent later this year.

Latest West Ham United injury news, return dates and suspensions

Smith Rowe has struggled to earn regular playing opportunities at the Emirates Stadium during this campaign and has mostly served as a sporadic presence in Mikel Arteta’s match-day squad. The English sensation has picked up one assist in 16 matches for the Gunners this season across all fronts.

The 23-year-old has seen most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 1.0 shots, 0.2 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has been careful when interchanging possession with his teammates in the opposition half after making 88.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Smith Rowe is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. He can even shoot the ball with power and precision from long range

The London-born talent is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. We can expect him to bring more firepower to West Ham boss David Moyes’ frontline. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular first-team spot at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.

At 23, Smith Rowe has still got a lot of room to grow as a footballer. However, there is no denying that he has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, West Ham should focus on getting him on board this summer as he would be a great option for them in the long run.
