“It’s Nice To Have Fields Out Of That Division” Lions Coach Dan Campbell Thrilled To See Justin Fields Move Out Of NFC North

Chicago Bears fans are still mourning the loss of fan favorite quarterback Justin Fields but some of the other members the the NFC North are delighted with news.

Earlier this month, Fields was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a sixth round pick in 2025. The 25-year-old quarterback is coming of his best season in the pros but with USC’ Caleb Williams set to make the leap to the NFL, the Bears made the difficult decision to move on from Fields.

The NFC North’s defending champion the Detroit Lions will face the Bears twice in the upcoming season and head coach Dan Campbell is ecstatic that Fields won’t be around to punish his defense. On Tuesday, Campbell was speaking with reporters and made his feeling clear on the the trade.

“I’m not going to lie, it’s nice to have Fields out of that division,” said Campbell.

The Lions and Bears finished with a 1-1 seasons record in 2023 with Chicago outscoring Campbell’s team 54-44 over the two games. Fields was exceptional during the Bears victory in the December, finishing with 223 passing yards, 58 rushing yards, a touchdowns and no interceptions.

Campbell, however, had the final laugh when his Lions won the NFC North for the first time. Detroit finished the year with an impressive 12-5 record, and with many of their starting lineup returning, they will remain the team to beat in 2024.
