BEN McNamara has stated his case for an extended run in Leigh’s starting line-up with man of the match performances in the Leopards’ last two Super League games.

But McNamara knows it might not be enough with half back rival Gareth O’Brien fit again after concussion for Saturday’s game against struggling Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.

However, the son of former Dragons’ boss Steve McNamara, is relishing the chance to battle with O’Brien for a slot alongside Lachlan Lam.

McNamara junior provided two assists, including for Joe Ofahengaue’s match winning late try and kicked four goals, in last Sunday’s 24-20 success at Wakefield.

“It can be tough,” he said acknowledging the extra pressure of being initially viewed as O’Brien’s deputy.

Leopards could also have second row Ethan O’Neill available after a fractured cheekbone.

“I didn’t feel like we had the momentum in the second half. But we always compete to the end and fortunately it paid off for us.”

Leigh left for the South of France on Wednesday. “Listening to their coach after the Hull KR game, they were embarrassed by their performance.

“But teams are at their best when they question each other about their honesty and accountability. If they are embarrassed it will be a real tough game for us.”

will be fourth whatever the results from games earlier in round 15 while Catalans are ninth with just five wins from 14 games.

Currently under the caretaker charge of Joel Tomkins, the French side was humiliated 68-6 at leaders Hull KR last weekend.

“Reports are (Sam) Tomkins is going to play and they are a different team when he plays,” said McNamara. “So, we will have to be on our A game
