are pulling out all the stops to make sure Burnley striker Joe Westley dons their red and white permanently after dazzling during his loan spell last season. Manager Ian Holloway is brimming with enthusiasm to bring the 20-year-old back to the County Ground, where he’s hoping Westley will shine brightly in a pivotal role within their first team.

With just a year left on his contract at Burnley—and with playing chances at the Premier League club looking slimmer than a goalpost—Westley may find the prospect of a return to Swindon hard to resist. Holloway has often sung praises of Westley’s bold spirit, tireless work ethic, and knack for making his presence felt from the bench.

Even though he spent most of his loan spell cutting his teeth as a substitute, starting only three games, Westley still managed to net a trio of goals—a strike rate of a goal every 164 minutes. While Harry Smith is the expected star up front for Swindon, Westley’s talent for turning the tide as a substitute meshes perfectly with Holloway’s tactic of ‘starters and finishers.’ It’s this strategy that saw Swindon snatch 25 points from losing positions last season, the best comeback stat in their league

With an attack style that’s a different flavor compared to Smith, Westley adds a valuable layer of depth to the squad. Swindon’s current attacking arsenal boasts the likes of Smith, Aaron Drinan, Paul Glatzel, Danny Butterworth, and Botan Ameen. After a hiccup in the transfer market with Charles Vernam, the club is keen to add at least two more new faces up front.

Back in April, when pondering his future, Westley made no secret of his passion for continuing in the English Football League. “I definitely want to continue playing league football next season,” he confessed. “Playing in front of 8,000 fans is a feeling you can’t get in under-21 games. Getting out into the leagues against better players is only going to help me in the future.”

As Swindon eye a permanent deal that suits both the club and this promising young striker, fans are on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the next chapter in their quest for glory next season.
