After an interim stint, Antonio Pierce finalizes his agreement to become head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Since the end of October, Antonio Pierce has served as the Las Vegas Raiders’ temporary head coach. He is currently finalizing an agreement to take over the position permanently, which is a move that will be well-liked by both the team’s players and supporters.

Antonio Pierce has agreed to become the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, and the two parties are currently finalizing the agreement.

Following Josh McDaniels’ dismissal as Raiders coach in October, Pierce assumed interim leadership. Under his leadership, the Raiders finished 5-4, the club finished 8-9 overall, and the players were loyal to him from the start.

“Why wouldn’t we keep going the direction we’re going?” Maxx Crosby, a defensive end for the Raiders, stated following their January 7 victory over Denver, 27-14.

It’s difficult that in such a short amount of time, we have managed to unite and accomplish something exceptional. We have a player that has excelled in his position, been a captain, won a Super Bowl, and is currently a fantastic coach and leader.”

Pierce also gained the support of many fans. As the Broncos game came to an end, the audience screamed “AP!”

Pierce will have the task of giving a once-famous team, which has missed the playoffs 19 times out of the previous 21 seasons, a championship pedigree.Owner Mark Davis was not allowed to hire Pierce directly due to NFL hiring regulations. To meet the Rooney rule, Davis needed to conduct in-person interviews with a minimum of two external minority and/or female candidates. That was what he did.

The Raiders spoke with former Buffalo defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, and according to ESPN, they also spoke with former co-defensive coordinator Kris Richard of the New Orleans Saints.

Two years ago, Davis made an outside choice in McDaniels instead of player favorite Rich Bisaccia, who guided the Raiders on an incredible late-season comeback to qualify for the playoffs.

Pierce would have to make choices about his employees after taking the job. He had two options: look for another offensive coordinator, or stick with Bo Hardegree, who took over as interim coordinator following Mick Lombardi’s midseason firing.

In addition, Pierce would have to collaborate with the new general manager on matters pertaining to personnel, such as quarterback decisions.

Although Aidan O’Connell, a rookie, showed improvement throughout the season, Pierce’s fears about the lack of a franchise quarterback remained.

The top quarterbacks will probably be selected by the time the Raiders select, as they have the 13th pick in this year’s draft.

Josh Jacobs, the running back, needs his future to be decided as well. Following his 2022 NFL rush record-setting season, Jacobs and the Raiders’ application for the franchise tag sparked a contract disagreement.

Following training camp, the parties reached an agreement on a one-year contract; nevertheless, Jacobs’ output decreased this season from 1,653 yards to 805 yards, and he was sidelined for the last month due to a quadriceps injury.
