Bad news emerges from the Colorado Avalanche as they release an update on head coach Jared Bednar
The Colorado Avalanche have confirmed an unfortunate update regarding head coach Jared Bednar after he suffered an injury during Saturday night’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The incident occurred when a clearing attempt from Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar went off target and sailed over the boards, striking Bednar in the face on the Avalanche bench. While the replay made the impact difficult to assess initially, it was later confirmed that the puck carried enough force to cause significant injury.

On Sunday, Colorado announced that Bednar will not travel with the team on their upcoming road trip as he recovers from facial fractures and a corneal abrasion sustained in the incident. Fortunately, he will not require surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
According to the team, assistant coaches Nolan Pratt and Dave Hakstol will take charge for the games in Edmonton and Calgary during his absence.
It is a painful setback for Bednar, though the expectation is that he could return later in the season, including potentially for the Stanley Cup playoffs
