Breaking: Buffalo Sabres’ ex-GM Kevyn Adams reportedly passes internal info to media
Former Sabres GM Kevyn Adams Sparks Controversy by Leaking Confidential Tuch Salary Talks
Former Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams is once again making headlines — but this time for allegedly revealing confidential team information to the media.
Adams, who was recently replaced by Jarmo Kekäläinen, oversaw a turbulent era in Buffalo that included trading Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, and Dylan Cozens, moving Taylor Hall, and signing key players such as Alex Tuch, Bowen Byram, and Devon Levi. Despite these moves, the Sabres extended their playoff drought to 14 years, never finishing higher than fifth in their division.

The controversy centers on Adams disclosing that Alex Tuch is reportedly seeking a salary higher than Los Angeles Kings forward Adrian Kempe’s $10.625 million per season — details that were previously confidential. With less than three months before the 2026 trade deadline, the Sabres now face increased pressure to decide whether to negotiate an extension or move Tuch.
Insider Elliotte Friedman reported that negotiations under Adams had “the two sides weren’t close,” and the rising salary cap is pushing Tuch’s potential value toward $10 million per season. By leaking this information, Adams has placed the negotiations firmly in the public eye, potentially impacting the team’s strategy, Tuch’s leverage, and the Sabres’ trade options.
For Buffalo, the clock is ticking — and Adams’ revelations have only added fuel to the fire.
