Winnipeg Blue Bombers Sign Super Bowl Champion and UFL MVP Bryce Perkins

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have officially added American quarterback Bryce Perkins to their roster, bringing a proven winner and dynamic playmaker to the Canadian Football League.

Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 215 pounds, Perkins earned both the Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year honors in the United Football League this year. Playing for the Michigan Panthers, he completed 69.0 percent of his passes for 1,342 yards, nine touchdowns, and just two interceptions across seven games, while also rushing for 269 yards and five scores.

Following his standout UFL season, the 28-year-old joined the Carolina Panthers but was released near the end of training camp. Perkins’ arrival comes as Winnipeg looks to boost an offense that ranked fifth in net yards last season, complemented by a defense that finished third and a turnover differential of minus-11.

Last year, Brady Oliveira led the team with 1,163 rushing yards, Nic Demski recorded 1,001 receiving yards, and Tony Jones led the defense with 104 tackles. The Blue Bombers also led the league in attendance, averaging 32,343 fans per game—a 3.7 percent increase from 2024.

Perkins originally went undrafted in 2020 but spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, earning a Super Bowl LVI ring as a member of the practice squad. He appeared in five regular-season games in 2022, starting once and completing 55.9 percent of his passes for 161 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, while also rushing 19 times for 90 yards.

Hailing from Chandler, Arizona, Perkins played college football at Arizona State University, Arizona Western College, and the University of Virginia. During 27 games with the Cavaliers, he completed 64.5 percent of his passes for 6,218 yards, 47 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions, adding 1,692 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground.

The Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division in 2025 with a 10-8 record, making the playoffs as the crossover team before falling to the Montreal Alouettes in the East Semi-Final.

Zach Collaros, the previous starter, threw for 3,048 yards with 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions over 13 games, posting a 6-7 record as a starter. Perkins’ signing adds a dynamic new option at quarterback as Winnipeg looks to climb higher in the CFL standings.
