Breaking news: Winnipeg Jets reportedly set to add an ex-NHL goalie as insurance while Connor Hellebuyck recovers from injury
Winnipeg Jets insider Ken Wiebe reports that the team is close to finalizing a deal with former NHL goalie Chris Driedger.
The veteran netminder recently terminated his contract with Chelyabinsk Traktor in the KHL, sparking rumours that he was aiming for a return to North American hockey.

Driedger, a Winnipeg native, is no stranger to the organization—he appeared in five games last season for the Jets’ AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose. His most recent NHL action came in 2024 with the Seattle Kraken.
The move comes as the Jets scramble for much-needed support in goal following the injury to star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck last week.
