Former Georgia quarterback and Bulldogs great Aaron Murray discusses Gunner Stockton ahead of the 2025 NCAA football season.

The Georgia Bulldogs’ 2025 season is less than 75 days away, and the Dawgs are poised to address the various offseason questions surrounding their team. One of the most pressing questions for Kirby Smart and his staff is about the quarterback situation.

While Gunner Stockton appears to be leading the starting position competition, fans and pundits are unclear of his potential for the Bulldogs in 2025. In an appearance with 680 The Fan, Georgia Bulldogs veteran Aaron Murray discussed what Stockton’s first full season as a starter would be like.

“He has plenty of arm strength, he has the athleticism,” says Murray. “But he has the DNA inside of him that says, ‘I’m a dog, I’m going to outwork you, I’m going to grind, and I’m going to make sure the guys around me can play confidently and quickly.'” So that’s the first thing I’ve seen and heard about him that should get Georgia supporters thrilled.”

While Stockton will undoubtedly be a focal point in Georgia’s offensive success in 2025, Murray is insistent that the squad as a whole must improve in order to augment offensive production.

“I know we all say ‘quarterback, quarterback, quarterback’ and I adore it because I am one. But the receivers have to be better.” Said Murray. “The receivers have to make plays, they have to create seperation, and catch the football.”

Georgia led the nation in dropped passes during the 2024 season, with over 25, resulting in offensive issues during the regular and postseasons. If the Dawgs want to compete for a national championship in 2025, they must address drops and other execution flaws.

The Bulldogs will kick off their 2025 college football season in Athens on Saturday, August 30th, when they host the Marshall Thundering Herd. The game starts at 3:30 p.m.
