In April, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Emeka Egbuka, adding another first-round wide receiver to the Ohio State Buckeyes’ NFL legacy.
Since assuming the role, wide receivers coach Brian Hartline has continuously produced elite talent, and there are no indications that this trend will slow down.
One Ohio State junior, who is draft-eligible if he decides to leave after a stellar sophomore campaign, is set for a big year in 2025.
Tate was the third option behind Jeremiah Smith and Egbuka last season, recording 733 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his debut season as a starter. Now that Egbuka is in the NFL, Tate is anticipated to take over as the number two player and may have a chance to record 1,000 yards in a season before his time in Columbus ends. Tate can move the chains steadily for the offence because he is a fluid route runner. This season, he should have more opportunities to make plays following the catch.
The Chicago native has taken advantage of every opportunity since coming to university. In limited action, the 6-foot-3 wide receiver recorded 264 receiving yards and a score as a true freshman. If Hartline develops Tate into the next first-round star, don’t be shocked.
