Senators hit by fresh locker room drama after Linus Ullmark incident

Both Ullmark and his wife, Moa Wikman, were dragged into false narratives, including claims of infidelity and alleged tensions within the dressing room. Some reports even suggested he had disclosed private information about teammates, with whispers involving captain Brady Tkachuk.

The Ottawa Senators responded firmly, issuing a strong statement dismissing the rumours as completely fabricated. The organisation condemned those responsible and reaffirmed their full support for Ullmark during his time away. Upon his return weeks later, the controversy died down, and the team refocused, pushing back into playoff contention.

However, a fresh issue has now emerged—one much closer to on-ice matters. Over the weekend, Ullmark was notably absent from a crucial game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, a matchup with significant playoff implications. His absence raised questions, but it was former NHL player Jeff O’Neill who intensified the debate. Speaking publicly, O’Neill criticised the situation as “completely unacceptable,” questioning how a team’s starting goaltender could miss what he described as the most important game of the season.

While acknowledging Ullmark’s earlier challenges, O’Neill argued that the timing was difficult to justify, particularly with the team battling injuries and fighting to stay in the playoff race. His stance was clear: in high-pressure moments, key players are expected to show up.
