Six Mustangs set to take part in the 2026 CFL Combines
Although the U Sports football season has wrapped up, Western’s players are already focused on the next step in their careers.
Six Mustangs are set to represent the university at this year’s CFL combines, aiming to impress league scouts, coaches and general managers.
Head coach Michael Faulds praised the group’s dedication, noting the opportunity is something they’ve dreamed about since arriving on campus. Jérôme Rancourt and Keegan O’Neil will attend the National Combine in Edmonton from March 27–29.

Rancourt, a quarterback by listing, is being evaluated as a fullback/tight end thanks to his versatility, while O’Neil brings prototypical size to the offensive line.
Four more Mustangs — Sandro Pierini, Conner Franzisi, Jude Buchanan and Sam La Roue — will compete at the Invitational Combine in Waterloo on March 6, hoping to earn promotion to the national stage. Western continues its strong CFL pipeline after six players were drafted last year.
