Sponsor logos on your CFL jersey—game-changer or no-go? Mullinder shares his honest thoughts
A fan texted SportsCage to praise the clean look of Olympic hockey jerseys, noting the absence of sponsor logos that are common in European leagues.
Saskatchewan Roughriders analyst Luc Mullinder sees things differently, especially when it comes to the CFL. He’s fully supportive of placing sponsors on helmets and jerseys to generate much-needed revenue.

“I feel strongly about this. The league needs to do it. I completely back creating branding opportunities on helmets and jerseys. The CFL needs money. If anyone thinks a 10th team is coming soon, I’ve got oceanfront property in South Regina to sell you—it’s not happening anytime soon,” Mullinder said.
He added: “If we can bring in partners by putting logos on jerseys, I’m all for it. The league needs to be sustainable, and growing the game requires money. Revenue is essential.”
Mullinder did advise moderation: a few small logos on helmets are fine, but for jerseys, pants, shoes, and socks, he’s open to maximizing sponsorship opportunities. “If it brings revenue, I’m for it, because the CFL needs it,” he concluded.
