The main reason why Edmonton Oilers Fans Have Every Reason to Worry
Edmonton Oilers Face Dire Challenge as Draisaitl Out for the Season
The Edmonton Oilers received crushing news Tuesday: superstar forward Leon Draisaitl will miss the remainder of the regular season after sustaining an injury in their recent game against the Nashville Predators.
The German-born center left the contest following a hit from Nashville’s Ozzy Wiesblatt, and the severity of the injury will sideline him for the Oilers’ final 14 games.

The timing could not be worse. Edmonton is in a precarious position in the playoff race, and the margin between them and their rivals is shrinking quickly.
Losing a player of Draisaitl’s caliber is catastrophic. The 30-year-old center has tallied an astounding 97 points this season, with 35 goals and 62 assists in 65 games.
Draisaitl, drafted third overall in 2014, is under a long-term contract averaging $14 million per season, with seven years still remaining.
His absence leaves a void in the Oilers’ lineup that no single player can realistically fill, forcing the team to rely heavily on contributions from the rest of the roster during this critical stretch.
If Edmonton manages to clinch a playoff spot without him, Draisaitl’s potential return for the postseason would provide a huge lift. Until then, every game is essentially a must-win for a team suddenly missing one of the league’s most dominant offensive forces.
The Oilers hope Draisaitl will recover in time for the playoffs, but that hope hinges entirely on the team surviving the regular season without him.
With multiple rivals closing in on the standings, navigating these final games without their star center will be an immense challenge.
