Canadian Junior Football League Prairie Conference confirms 2026 schedule

The Canadian Junior Football League, alongside the Prairie Football Conference, has officially announced the schedule for the 2026 season.

The campaign gets underway on Saturday, August 8, with the Calgary Colts travelling to face the Edmonton Huskies at J.P. Bowl. The opening weekend continues on Sunday, August 9, as the Regina Thunder take on the Edmonton Wildcats, while the Saskatoon Hilltops visit the Winnipeg Rifles.

Season structure and playoff pathway

The nine-week regular season will be split into two four-game stretches, separated by a bye week in early September.

Postseason action begins with the semi-finals on October 11, followed by the PFC Championship game on October 18.

The conference champion will then face the winner of the Ontario Football Conference on October 25, with a place in the national final on the line. The Canadian Bowl is scheduled for November 7 in British Columbia.

Hilltops look to defend crown

The Saskatoon Hilltops enter the new season as defending champions after edging the Regina Thunder 30-27 in last year’s final, thanks to a dramatic overtime touchdown connection between Isaiah Vallderruten and Griffin Sander.

They went on to claim national honours, defeating the Okanagan Sun 21-18 in the Canadian Bowl.

Looking back at 2025 standings

The Thunder topped the standings last season with a 7-1 record, closely followed by the Hilltops at 6-2. The Rifles finished .500 at 4-4, while the Huskies posted a 3-5 record. The Wildcats and Colts rounded out the table at 2-6.

With the new schedule now set, attention turns to what promises to be another competitive and exciting PFC season.
