Main reason Why the American women’s hockey team is said to have turned down Trump’s White House invite
The gold medal-winning U.S. women’s national hockey team has reportedly declined an invitation from Donald Trump to attend the State of the Union address.
Trump had formally extended the invitation on Tuesday, but the team informed him on Wednesday that they would be unable to attend.
A team spokesperson told NBC News reporter Monica Alba that the players, who won gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, were “sincerely grateful” for the recognition. However, they cited “timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments” as the reason they could not make the event.
