Mario Alford joins Montreal Alouettes after standout return success
Montreal Alouettes add experienced return specialist Mario Alford
The Montreal Alouettes have signed American returner Mario Alford as they continue to strengthen their special teams unit.
The 34-year-old recently spent time in training camp with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats before being released after the preseason. Despite limited action, he made an impact in his lone appearance, returning a missed field goal for a touchdown that was later called back due to a penalty.

Alford also featured for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2025, contributing across kick and punt returns and maintaining his reputation as one of the CFL’s most reliable return threats. Over his career, he has built a strong record of explosive plays and consistent production in the return game.
