The Montreal Alouettes have added American linebacker Micah Awe ahead of the 2026 campaign.

Standing five-foot-eleven and weighing 216 pounds, Awe dominated defensively in 2025 with the BC Lions, leading the league with 114 tackles. He also contributed three special teams tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.

General manager Danny Maciocia praised the signing, emphasizing Awe’s familiarity with both the league and the organization, as well as his professionalism and leadership qualities.

Awe’s standout season came in 2023 with the Calgary Stampeders, where he posted 134 total tackles and earned All-CFL honours.

Over 118 career games, Awe has accumulated 568 defensive tackles along with sacks, interceptions, and forced fumbles while playing for multiple teams including the Toronto Argonauts and Ottawa Redblacks.

Montreal made only a handful of additions in free agency, bringing in players like Dustin Crum, Jerreth Sterns, and DeVonte Dedmon, while losing key contributors including Austin Mack and Darnell Sankey.

The Alouettes hold the eighth pick in the upcoming draft and will kick off their 2026 season in early June after finishing 10-8 in 2025 and reaching the Grey Cup.
