The Calgary Stampeders have confirmed that veteran quarterback P.J. Walker has chosen to retire after nine seasons in professional football.

The 31-year-old explained that, after discussions with his family and agent, stepping away felt like the right decision as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury.

He also expressed gratitude to the organization, his teammates, coaches, and fans for their support throughout his career.

Walker joined Calgary late in the 2024 campaign before signing a two-year deal, but his time in the Canadian Football League was brief.

He made his first start in July 2025 against the Ottawa Redblacks and featured in a handful of games, finishing with 395 passing yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions, along with a rushing score.

The New Jersey native underwent offseason shoulder surgery, and the injury has not fully healed, ultimately influencing his decision to retire.

Prior to his CFL stint, Walker had experience in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns, and also stood out in the XFL during the 2020 season.

In addition, Calgary announced roster changes, including the release of linebacker Nicky Farinaccio, while defensive backs Brady Breeze and Lance Robinson have also retired.
