Brady Tkachuk addresses trade rumours amid Ottawa Senators speculation
Following the Ottawa Senators’ early playoff exit in 2026, speculation surrounding captain Brady Tkachuk’s future has intensified, with reports suggesting the franchise could consider a blockbuster trade this summer.

However, Tkachuk moved quickly to shut down the rumours during his end-of-season media appearance. The 26-year-old dismissed the talk as a distraction and made it clear he has no intention of leaving Ottawa, reaffirming his commitment to both the team and the city.
Visibly frustrated, Tkachuk stressed that he has never indicated a desire to move on, calling the ongoing speculation difficult to deal with. His stance echoed that of general manager Steve Staios, who had already labelled the rumours as unfounded earlier in the week.
The Senators captain, who missed earlier media duties due to the birth of his second child, also spoke positively about his time in Ottawa, insisting he remains fully invested in the club’s future. While questions about a contract extension beyond 2028 were raised, Tkachuk noted that discussions are premature with two years still left on his current deal, though he is eager to sit down with management to discuss the team’s long-term direction.
On the ice, Tkachuk recorded 22 goals and 59 points in 60 games this season, but endured a frustrating playoff campaign, failing to register a point as Ottawa were swept by the Carolina Hurricanes. He admitted disappointment with his postseason performance, acknowledging his desire to make a bigger impact in crucial moments.
Despite that, Tkachuk highlighted the team’s resilience during the regular season, pointing to their fight to stay competitive as a sign of strong character within the group.
While trade rumours are likely to continue throughout the offseason, both Tkachuk and the Senators have firmly denied any plans to part ways — offering some reassurance to fans, even as questions about the long-term future remain.
