Stan Bowman breaks silence on Connor McDavid remarks
The Edmonton Oilers’ season ended in disappointment this week after a first-round Stanley Cup exit against the Anaheim Ducks, but attention quickly shifted to post-game comments from star forward Connor McDavid.
McDavid described the team as “average all year,” a remark widely interpreted as criticism of general manager Stan Bowman and the overall roster performance.
Bowman responded on Saturday, choosing a calm tone rather than confrontation. He acknowledged McDavid’s assessment, agreeing that the team lacked consistency throughout the season and never truly found its identity.
He added that the campaign was unusual for the Oilers, noting they were unable to build momentum or establish the level of confidence required to handle adversity.
