Kris Knoblauch has disclosed that Connor McDavid is injured in a serious way
There will be plenty of offseason questions for the Edmonton Oilers following a disappointing first-round Stanley Cup playoff exit at the hands of the Anaheim Ducks. On Saturday, both general manager Stan Bowman and head coach Kris Knoblauch addressed some of those concerns after the early postseason elimination.

One of the main talking points was the health of Connor McDavid, who appeared far from his usual dominant self throughout the series. The explosive speed and trademark bursts that define his game were noticeably missing, and the reason has now been clarified.

Knoblauch directly addressed the team’s injury situation, confirming that both McDavid and forward Jason Dickinson were dealing with serious issues.
“Both Connor and Dickinson had fractures around the foot/ankle area,” Knoblauch said. “They were playing through a lot of pain.”
He added that these were the most significant injuries within the group, noting that the medical and training staff worked closely with both players just to keep them on the ice, though their performance was clearly affected.
Despite the injuries, Knoblauch praised both players for their commitment.
“There’s a lot of respect for the effort they showed to stay in the lineup and contribute the way they did,” he said.
He also acknowledged bluntly that the injuries had a direct impact on how both players performed during the series.
