FINALLY! Big Relief For Man United Fans As Coach Michael Carrick Breaks The Losing Curse And…
…leads a stunning 3-2 comeback against AS Roma to end Manchester United’s 54-day wait for a victory at Old Trafford.
The atmosphere inside the Theatre of Dreams was tense from the first whistle. With protests against the ownership and growing pressure on the manager, United needed a response, but they started in the worst possible way. Roma silenced the home crowd when Matias Soule opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Donyell Malen converted from the penalty spot seven minutes later to make it 2-0. At half-time, Carrick’s team were booed off and were staring at a ninth consecutive game without a win in all competitions.
Many expected the interim manager to lose his job before the next league match, with reports linking Unai Emery and Antonio Conte to the position. But what happened in the second half has given him a lifeline and given fans a reason to believe again.
The comeback began in the 58th minute when Bruno Fernandes scored from a retaken penalty after his initial effort was saved. The captain’s goal, his first in nine matches, lifted the entire stadium and changed the momentum.
Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha then took centre stage. With seven minutes left, he capitalised on a defensive error from Roma defender Leonardo Balerdi to tap in the equaliser. Old Trafford erupted.
Three minutes later, the turnaround was complete. Cunha received the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful strike past Mile Svilar to make it 3-2, sparking wild celebrations.
The night ended with drama when Cunha was sent off after receiving two quick yellow cards, one for jumping into the crowd and another for a reckless challenge. However, United held on with ten men to secure a vital Champions League win.
For Carrick, this was more than just three points. It was proof that his team still fights for him.
