Texas Tech gets athletic linebacker Kaegan Ash to make a commitment to the school.
Sunday, Kaegan Ash, an athletic defender from Mount Enterprise (TX) High School in East Texas, pledged to attend Texas Tech. He will be a part of the class of 2026.
Ash turned down 14 offers from schools like Air Force, Army, Navy, Texas State, UTEP, UTSA, and Washington State. He picked Texas Tech.
A week ago today, on June 8, the 6-foot, 205-pound talent got an offer from defensive coordinator Shiel Wood and the Red Raiders. He did well at a Texas Tech summer camp and impressed the coaches.
“It was Shield Wood, coach. He called and asked me to come to camp.” I said, “Yeah, I’ll come to camp because I’m really excited about Texas Tech.” He told me he would give it to me if I did well at camp. So that’s what I did: I went out and competed. Had my best 40-yard dash, best vertical jump, and best broad jump.
He quickly set up his official visit after the camp and getting the offer. It wasn’t long after that that he made his choice public.
“It seemed like a good spot. A spot where I can play at the highest level. They have great players, but I can just go out there every day and race to get better.
When Ash was a junior, he ran 244 times for 1,960 yards and 32 scores. He also had one catch for 67 yards and another touchdown through the air. On defense, he had 49 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 1 interception (which was returned for a touchdown), 1 fumble recovery (which was also returned for a touchdown), and 2 forced fumbles.
As of right now, Ash is fully committed to giving his all for Red Raider Nation so that they can win every game he plays in.
“I’m going to bring a lot of stuff.” I’ll try to win every game, and I’ll have a good defense.
Ash set new records in the 100-meter (10.89 seconds), 200-meter (22.56 seconds), and triple jump (49 feet, 3.25 inches) while competing for Mount Enterprise’s track and field team this spring.
In April, Ash ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds and jumped 9 feet 10.8 inches in the broad jump, among other things.
He joins Georgetown East View’s Tieson Ejiawoko and Bixby’s Cord Nolan as the third linebacker in Texas Tech’s 13th pledge of the 2026 class.
