Breaking: Montreal Alouettes secure deal with ex-NFL defensive back Faion Hicks
The Montreal Alouettes have strengthened their secondary by signing American defensive back Faion Hicks to a two-year deal, keeping him with the club through the 2027 season.
Hicks, who stands five-foot-ten and weighs 192 pounds, entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick by the Denver Broncosin 2022.
He appeared in two regular-season games and made two tackles before being released after the 2023 training camp. Since then, the Florida native has spent time with the Saints, Browns, and Seahawks, though he did not feature in any regular-season games. Earlier this year, he also signed with the Birmingham Stallions.
A product of the University of Wisconsin, Hicks registered 107 tackles, 16 pass breakups, and one interception across 39 collegiate appearances.
Montreal is coming off a 10-8 season that saw them finish second in the East Division.
The Alouettes defeated Hamilton in the East Final but fell to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 112th Grey Cup. Quarterback Davis Alexander went 7-0 as a starter but missed significant time due to a hamstring injury.
The Alouettes finished 2025 ranked eighth in net offence, first in net defence, and third in turnover differential (+8).

Stevie Scott III led the team in rushing yards (418), Tyler Snead topped receiving (1,129), and Darnell Sankey recorded a team-best 103 tackles. The club averaged 21,132 fans, placing sixth in CFL attendance.
