Breaking: The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another top prospect back into the fold, officially securing 2025 draft pick
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have secured the return of yet another decorated talent from their 2025 CFL Draft class, officially signing standout offensive lineman Erik Andersen.

Chosen 13th overall in the second round of the 2025 CFL Draft, Andersen originally reported to training camp before opting to head back to Western University for his final year of eligibility. That decision paid off in a major way, as the six-foot-six, 314-pound left tackle captured the J.P. Metras Trophy, awarded to the top lineman in Canadian university football. He anchored a dominant Western Mustangs offensive line that led the nation in scoring (45.1 points per game), ranked second in total offence (503.5 yards per game), averaged 269.9 rushing yards per contest and produced 28 rushing touchdowns — 14 more than any other team in U Sports.
Over his university career, Andersen appeared in 46 games and earned first-team All-Canadian honours in three consecutive seasons. The London, Ont., product also attended rookie minicamp with the New York Giants earlier this spring.
The Roughriders are coming off a resurgent 2025 campaign in which they topped the West Division with a 12-6 record — their first division title since 2019 — before defeating the Montreal Alouettes in Winnipeg to capture the 112th Grey Cup, ending a 12-year championship drought. Quarterback Trevor Harris posted an 11-5 record as a starter while throwing for 4,549 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Saskatchewan finished the season ranked second in both net offence and net defence, while tying for third with a plus-eight turnover differential. A.J. Ouellette led the team in rushing with 1,222 yards, KeeSean Johnson topped the receiving charts with 1,159 yards, and A.J. Allen paced the defence with 91 tackles. The club also placed second in league attendance, drawing an average of 28,427 fans — a 2.7% increase from the previous year.
