Did ESPN Just COUNT OUT Ohio State?! 🤯 A major analyst has a BOLD and surprising prediction for the Buckeyes’ 2025 season that you NEED to see!
Not everyone thinks the Ohio State Buckeyes have the firepower to defend their 2024 title, but the defending national champs will try. Paul Finebaum, an ESPN SEC analyst, has been one of the program’s harshest critics this summer.

Finebaum revealed his top five picks to win it all in 2025 last week, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Penn State Nittany Lions, Oregon Ducks, Texas Longhorns, and Clemson Tigers.
Why not Ohio State? According to Athlon Sports, Finebaum stated on his broadcast, “Ohio State is the team I do not like.” “I think they’re vastly overrated.”
The majority of fans and commentators will undoubtedly give the Buckeyes the benefit of the doubt in order to keep them close to the top of the college football mountain because they are the current national champions. However, the Ohio State team of 2025 brings back nine starters from the team that won the title the previous year, including safety Caleb Downs and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who are arguably the finest players in the nation on both sides of the ball.
Of course, some scepticism is still warranted. Only three of the Buckeyes’ defensive starters are back, and they are all in the defensive backfield. Additionally, quarterback is not one of the six starters making a comeback to the offence.
Nevertheless, Texas brings back nine starters, while Oregon only brings back five. The Buckeyes are not the only team in 2025 to bring in a new quarterback, along with Alabama and other two programs.
