Saskatchewan Roughriders CEO Craig Reynolds Brings Grey Cup Back to Foam Lake
Saskatchewan Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds made a triumphant return to his hometown of Foam Lake on Friday, bringing the Grey Cup to Foam Lake Elementary School and Foam Lake Composite School. Reynolds was joined by Tommy Stevens, who scored two of the Roughriders’ three touchdowns in the team’s 25-17 victory over the Montreal Alouettes in November.
Reynolds, a former Foam Lake Panthers quarterback, said the visit was about giving back to the community that supported him and the team. “It was all about us and not about him,” said Principal Nevin Halyk, praising Reynolds’ humility and gratitude. Students shared in the excitement, with Grade 9 student Carson Osborne calling the experience “really cool” and noting the long wait since the Roughriders’ last Grey Cup win 12 years ago.
During the visit, Reynolds reminisced about his school days, recalling both his academic achievements—including being Foam Lake Composite’s top math student in 1993—and his more humorous athletic mishaps, like scoring on his own basketball net. Faculty members, some of whom have known Reynolds since childhood, reflected on his accomplishments and ongoing connection to the town.
Reynolds has a history of returning to Foam Lake after Grey Cup wins. He first visited in 2013 as Senior VP and CFO, bringing along former Roughriders Weston Dressler and Taj Smith to support the school’s football program. During Friday’s visits, he was surprised to discover his face on the school’s Math Wall of Fame, highlighting his lasting legacy.
The day also included a trip to Foam Lake Community Hall, a volunteer-built facility where Reynolds and Stevens signed autographs and posed for photos. Stevens called the experience special, especially seeing the town embrace the championship with Reynolds’ family.
“It’s something you dream about—taking the Grey Cup back to your hometown,” Reynolds said, reflecting on the excitement and personal connections throughout the day.
