Explained: The reason MGK will be performing at the Alouettes vs. Roughriders CFL game
The CFL has lined up a headline performer for its premier annual game, the Grey Cup.
This year’s championship pits the Montreal Alouettes against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but the spotlight won’t be limited to the players. MGK (Colson Baker) is set to headline the halftime show, joining past Grey Cup performers like Justin Bieber, Shania Twain, Lenny Kravitz, and the Jonas Brothers.

The halftime performance is expected around 7:30 p.m. ET, roughly 90 minutes after the 6 p.m. kickoff. MGK, a Cleveland-born rapper, singer, and instrumentalist, has built a nearly 20-year career, evolving from his early rap work to pop-punk with albums like Tickets to My Downfall and Mainstream Sellout.
He has earned multiple Billboard Music Awards and a Grammy nomination.
Halftime entertainment at the Grey Cup began in 1990 and has featured numerous high-profile acts, including Canadian stars like Justin Bieber, Shania Twain, Bryan Adams, and Nickelback.
