During Friday’s Olympic matchup between Canada and Switzerland, a collision involving two established NHL players resulted in a serious injury. Los Angeles Kings forward Kevin Fiala, representing his native Switzerland, was hurt in an incident with Washington Capitals winger Tom Wilson.

Ironically, it was Wilson — another prominent NHL name — who was involved in the play that led to Fiala’s injury. The contact itself did not appear especially forceful at first glance.
