The Montreal Alouettes announced Thursday that they have extended the contract of kicker Jose Maltos Diaz, keeping the 5-foot-10, 221-pound specialist with the team through the 2027 season.

Diaz had a record-breaking 2025 campaign, connecting on 58 field goals—the most in club history—and making a 58-yard kick against Calgary. He also led the CFL in scoring with 210 points.

Next year will mark Maltos Diaz’s fourth season with Montreal after beginning his CFL career in 2019 with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Edmonton Elks extend deals for defensive linemen Robbie Smith and Jordan Williams

The Edmonton Elks have also announced contract extensions for defensive linemen Robbie Smith and Jordan Williams.

Smith, a native of Brampton, Ontario, recorded 16 tackles in 10 games during his first season with Edmonton. He previously spent five seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, contributing to Grey Cup victories in 2022 and 2024.

Notably, Smith blocked a field goal in the 2022 Grey Cup to help secure Toronto’s 24-23 championship win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Over his career, he has played 90 regular-season games, tallying 143 tackles, 20 sacks, one interception, and three forced fumbles.

Williams, an American, joined Edmonton midway through the 2025 season after being released by Toronto. In 14 combined games, he recorded 13 tackles and returned a fumble 77 yards for a touchdown.
