Ottawa Senators respond to online speculation about Linus Ullmark
The Ottawa Senators have issued a statement addressing the extraordinary rumours that have been circulating across social media over the past 24 hours.
As previously outlined in our earlier report, none of the claims currently spreading online have been verified, and it was made clear from the outset that no evidence has been presented to support them.
This is often the challenge of covering NHL rumours in real time, particularly within the fast-moving environment of social media.

The speculation comes at a difficult moment for the Senators, whose season has taken a sharp downturn. A widely discussed rumour online has led some fans to question whether off-ice issues could be contributing to the team’s struggles over the past month.
To provide some background, goaltender Linus Ullmark stepped away from the team shortly after Christmas, officially taking a personal leave of absence on December 28. Although he is no longer on the active roster, his full $8.25 million cap hit remains on the Senators’ books. The organization has not offered specific details regarding his absence, stating only that it is for personal reasons and of an indefinite duration.
On Friday, the Senators moved Ullmark to a non-roster designation in order to make room for the return of Lars Eller from injury.
With Ullmark sidelined and no formal explanation given, speculation among fans has intensified. Unsubstantiated claims surfaced online suggesting that Ullmark’s personal situation may involve marital issues and that this has led to tension within the dressing room.
Much of the chatter stems from an unverified social media account, which alleges that Ullmark disclosed information involving other players’ personal lives, creating further strain within the team. These claims remain entirely unconfirmed and have not been reported by any established or reputable NHL insiders.
It is important to stress that the account responsible for spreading these rumours is not verified, and no credible sources have corroborated the allegations. Whether the story lacks merit or is simply too speculative for mainstream reporters to address remains unclear.
What is certain is that the lack of clarity surrounding Ullmark’s absence has left room for conjecture. Until the situation is addressed more directly, speculation is likely to persist among the Senators’ fanbase.
