Panthers coach Paul Maurice reveals worrying news about Brad Marchand
The Florida Panthers could soon begin resting some of their experienced players as the season winds down.
Head coach Paul Maurice revealed on Monday that veteran forward Brad Marchand will meet with medical specialists and will be unavailable for the time being. Maurice confirmed that Marchand will miss the Panthers’ upcoming game against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday, and hinted that his absence could extend beyond that match.

While the Panthers have not been mathematically eliminated from the playoff race, they currently sit 11 points behind the Boston Bruins for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, making their chances of qualifying appear very slim.
Because of that situation, there is speculation that Florida could begin shutting down some of their veteran players to avoid further injuries and focus on returning next season with a healthier roster.
Marchand has carried a significant workload for the Panthers this year, particularly with key players like Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov missing time due to injuries. Despite the circumstances, the 37-year-old has still delivered strong production, recording 27 goals and 27 assists for 54 points in 52 games.
Given his age and the team’s current position in the standings, it would not be surprising if the Panthers choose to rest Marchand for the remainder of the season in order to protect him for the next campaign.
