Team USA expresses sorrow following tragic killings at Rhode Island hockey school

Team USA has released a statement in the wake of the tragic killings at a Rhode Island hockey school yesterday. The head coach, Mike Sullivan, spoke on behalf of the team, offering condolences to the families affected by the incident at Pawtucket.

Sullivan said:

“Our hearts and prayers go out to those impacted by the shooting at the rink in Pawtucket. This tragedy hits close to home for me, growing up in Massachusetts, and with two of our coaches, John Hynes and David Quinn, being from Rhode Island. We are deeply sorry and feel for everyone affected, as well as their friends and family.”

Police have since confirmed that the killings were a targeted event, not a random attack. A man, identified as Robert Dorgan, killed his ex-wife and daughter before taking his own life. Authorities do not believe the public was ever at risk.

Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves explained that the incident appeared to stem from a family dispute. Reports indicate Dorgan was undergoing gender reassignment and had been dealing with mental health issues.

This shocking tragedy has left the community reeling, and Team USA’s statement reflects their solidarity and support for those affected by the heartbreaking events.
