The long-awaited return of NHL goaltender Carter Hart is finally happening. NHL insider Kevin Weekes revealed on Sunday that Hart is set to rejoin the Vegas Golden Knights after completing a three-game conditioning stint with the Henderson Silver Knights, the team’s AHL affiliate.

Although Hart posted a 3.07 goals-against average and a .839 save percentage in those AHL games, Weekes reports that he is expected to play his first NHL game since the 2023–24 season later this week. According to Weekes, Hart is lined up to make his Golden Knights debut on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Hart’s comeback arrives after a lengthy period away from the league following a legal case in Canada, in which he was found not guilty. Several other players were also acquitted in the same case and have yet to return to the NHL.

Hart will be the first, and his return may influence whether others eventually follow, depending on fan reaction and how the situation unfolds.

Before his time away, Hart was a key goaltender for the Philadelphia Flyers, playing 227 NHL games and recording a 2.94 goals-against average with a .906 save percentage.

The Golden Knights will be hoping he can rediscover that level of play as he steps back into NHL action.
