Breaking news: Dakoda Shepley reached out to Toronto Argonauts over potential CFL deal
Canadian offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley has officially signed with the Toronto Argonauts, but in an unusual twist, it was Shepley who initiated the move.
“He reached out. We responded. It was magic from the first conversation,” said GM Mike ‘Pinball’ Clemons. “He knew where he wanted to play. He’s mature, and he’ll help us on the field, in the locker room, and in the community.”

A Windsor, Ont. native, Shepley was a first-round pick in the 2018 CFL Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. After starting every game in 2019, he opted out during the COVID-19 pandemic and spent six years in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, and Indianapolis Colts, dressing for 16 regular-season games and earning nearly $2 million.
At 6’5” and 305 lbs, Shepley adds a proven veteran presence to Toronto’s offensive line as the Argonauts look to strengthen for the upcoming CFL season.
