Hamilton Tiger-Cats Interview Brock Sunderland for General Manager Role
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have formally interviewed Brock Sunderland for their vacant general manager position, according to multiple sources.

Sunderland most recently served as the senior player personnel director for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers during the 2025 CFL season. The Blue Bombers granted Hamilton permission to speak with him, paving the way for the interview.
A Return to CFL Front Office Consideration
The 46-year-old returned to the CFL in January after a two-year absence.
His last front-office role came in Edmonton, where he was relieved of his GM duties in November 2021 in a sweeping organizational overhaul that also saw the exits of club president Chris Presson and head coach Jaime Elizondo.
Sunderland originally took over as Edmonton’s GM in April 2017 following the departure of Ed Hervey. Over his four seasons, the team posted a 32–36 regular-season record, with year-by-year finishes of 12-6, 9-9, 8-10, and 3-11. He also recorded a 2-2 playoff mark, including appearances in the West Semi-Final and West Final. Edmonton continued to pay out his contract through the 2023 campaign.
Connection With Scott Milanovich
Sunderland maintains a notable connection to current Ticats head coach Scott Milanovich. He hired Milanovich as Edmonton’s head coach in December 2019 after dismissing Jason Maas.
The pair worked together for a year before Milanovich stepped down to join the Indianapolis Colts as quarterbacks coach in January 2021. Milanovich never coached a game for the Elks due to the cancelled 2020 season and his NFL move.
Extensive CFL and NFL Experience
Sunderland’s CFL journey began in 2004 as a scout with the Montreal Alouettes, later becoming their director of scouting through 2007. His résumé includes a stint as a pro scout with the New York Jets (2008–12) and four years as assistant GM with the Ottawa Redblacks, where he helped build the roster that captured the 2016 Grey Cup.
Hamilton’s Search After Tragic Loss
Hamilton’s GM role has been open since the passing of Ted Goveia in September. Despite the emotional blow, the Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Division at 11–7 in 2025 but fell short in the East Final against the Montreal Alouettes.
Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell led the league in passing with 5,296 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, earning the East Division’s Most Outstanding Player nomination. The Ticats ranked third in net offence, eighth in net defence, and topped the CFL with a +10 turnover differential.
Running back Greg Bell paced the ground attack with 1,038 rushing yards, while Kenny Lawler led all Hamilton receivers with 1,443 yards. Stavros Katsantonis finished as the team’s leading tackler with 69.
Fan support also remained strong, as Hamilton averaged 22,858 spectators per game, ranking fourth in league attendance and marking a 3.9 percent increase from the previous season.
