CONFIRMED: Team Canada’s Olympic roster revealed

The wait is finally over for Canada’s Olympic men’s hockey roster, with the full squad for the Milano Cortina Games in February now officially confirmed. Earlier this week, speculation intensified after a list of forwards appeared to leak via uniform supplier Fanatics and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.

That report suggested that, in addition to the five forwards already announced during the summer — Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Brayden Point and Sam Reinhart — several other high-profile names had secured their places.

Those leaked selections included Brad Marchand, Mitch Marner, Nick Suzuki, Macklin Celebrini, Brandon Hagel, Sam Bennett, Mark Stone and Tom Wilson. On Wednesday, Team Canada general manager Doug Armstrong put an end to the speculation by formally unveiling the roster, confirming many of the names that had been circulating and revealing the complete lineup.

Canada enters the tournament with a proud Olympic history. The nation captured gold medals in both 2010 and 2014 when NHL players last competed at the Games. In 2018, Canada settled for bronze, and the team narrowly missed the podium at the 2022 Winter Olympics. The NHL had sent its players to five consecutive Olympics from 1998 through 2014 before opting out of the 2018 tournament, while the COVID-19 pandemic prevented participation in 2022.

Now, hockey’s biggest stars are set to return to the Olympic stage. The Milano Cortina Winter Games will begin on February 6, with the men’s hockey gold medal game scheduled for February 22.
