Nathan MacKinnon fires up fans and delivers strong statement before the Winter Olympics
If Team Canada needed extra motivation ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, Nathan MacKinnon appears ready to provide it.
The Colorado Avalanche star made it clear his focus is solely on winning gold, not enjoying the off-ice Olympic experience. Speaking to reporters, MacKinnon stressed that while the Games are unique, his mindset is strictly business.

“I want to enjoy myself, but I’m not here to enjoy myself,” he said. “I’m going to do everything I can to play well and hopefully contribute.”
While many athletes embrace the Olympic Village atmosphere and the chance to meet competitors from around the world, MacKinnon admitted that isn’t a priority for him.
“It’s fun to get to know people, but at the end of the day, we’re just trying to win,” he said, before giving a blunt “No” when asked if he planned to soak in the experience.
His intense approach may not suit everyone, but few would argue if it ends with Canada standing atop the podium.
