BREAKING: The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive end Chico Bennett Jr. and two other brilliant players
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced on Friday that they have added three players to their roster: National defensive back Gideon Agyei, American defensive end Chico Bennett Jr., and National receiver D’Sean Mimbs.

Agyei, standing six feet tall and weighing 189 pounds, was taken by the Riders in the sixth round (52nd overall) of the 2025 CFL Draft. He previously joined the team for training camp in the spring before heading back to the University of Calgary for the 2025 season. Over five years with the Dinos, he appeared in 29 games, tallying 70 tackles, two interceptions — one of which he returned for a touchdown — and 17 pass breakups. At the 2025 CFL Invitational Combine, Agyei posted impressive testing numbers, including a 4.59-second 40-yard dash (fourth-best overall and second among DBs). He also led all defensive backs with 16 bench press reps and tied for second in the shuttle at 4.27 seconds.
Bennett Jr., measuring six-foot-four and 256 pounds, featured in two regular-season games for Saskatchewan this past year, appearing in Weeks 20 and 21 and recording two tackles. Before joining the Riders, he attended rookie minicamp with the Philadelphia Eagles. In college, Bennett Jr. played three seasons (2022–24) with the Virginia Cavaliers, amassing 107 total tackles, eight sacks, 21 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two recoveries, and an interception across 33 games. His 2022 campaign earned him All-ACC Honorable Mention status after he posted 34 tackles, seven sacks, eight tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. Prior to his time at Virginia, he spent two seasons (2019–20) at Georgia Tech, where he contributed 31 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack in 15 appearances.
Mimbs, who is six-foot-one and 180 pounds, was picked 50th overall in the sixth round of the 2024 CFL Draft. He suited up in four regular-season games for Saskatchewan during the 2025 campaign, collecting a single reception for five yards. Before joining the CFL, Mimbs spent five seasons (2020–24) with the University of Regina Rams, playing in 32 games and accumulating 130 catches for 1,717 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2024, he once again led the Rams in receptions (45) and receiving yards (512), helping propel the team to the Mitchell Bowl. As a junior, he showcased his talent at the 2023 East-West Bowl.
Back in 2021, Mimbs started all six Canada West matchups for the Rams, leading the team with 288 receiving yards and five touchdown grabs. That season, he set a program record for most touchdown receptions by a first-year player and was named the University of Regina’s Male Rookie of the Year.
