Damonte Coxie eyes more tougher away form from Toronto Argonauts
Damonte Coxie embraces Toronto Argonauts’ road-heavy 2026 CFL season
Toronto Argonauts receiver Damonte Coxie says he is fully embracing the challenge of a heavily road-based 2026 season, with the team set to play just six true home games at BMO Field due to World Cup scheduling.
With the stadium unavailable for much of the summer, Toronto will spend a large portion of the campaign playing as the visiting side — a scenario Coxie says he actually enjoys.

The star receiver made it clear he thrives in away environments, welcoming the pressure and hostility that comes with playing in opposition stadiums. He described road games as a “us against them” mentality, where teams must bond tightly without the comfort of home support.
Coxie believes this situation could bring the Argonauts closer together, arguing that constant travel and hostile crowds will help build chemistry and toughness within the squad.
He also suggested the group shares a similar mindset, seeing the unusual schedule as an opportunity rather than a setback, with the focus now on adapting and competing regardless of venue.
The Argonauts are expected to play several “home” fixtures at neutral or away venues before returning to BMO Field later in the season, with their first official home game not coming until August.
Like the BC Lions, who will also be displaced due to World Cup stadium use, Toronto have had to adjust their 2026 plans, although their approach has been to embrace additional road fixtures rather than relocate games within the province.
Despite the disruption, Coxie insists the mindset inside the locker room remains focused and united as the Argonauts prepare for a season unlike any other in the CFL.
